BERKELEY RESIDENTS INVITED TO “SAFE MEDICATION MANAGEMENT” PROGRAM AT THE SILVER RIDGE PARK EAST CLUBHOUSE ON MARCH 4TH

Berkeley Township residents are invited to a Safe Medication Management program offered by the Ocean County Health Department and sponsored by Berkeley Councilman Carmen Amato, Jr., a volunteer member of the Ocean County Board of Health, and hosted by the Silver Ridge Park East Homeowners Association. Judy Noonan, President of the Association said the program will take place on Friday, March 4th at 1pm at the Silver Ridge Park East Clubhouse, 979 Edgebrook Drive North.

The Safe Medication Management program is designed to specifically target the needs of the senior community,” said Councilman Amato. A registered nurse from the Ocean County Health Department will discuss and answer questions and review topics such as why, when and how to manage your medication regimen. The program will include understanding your prescriptions, how to take your medication correctly, medication interactions, and facts about over the counter medication. A question and answer period will follow and handouts and other give-a-ways distributed, said Councilman Amato.

Leslie Terjesen, Ocean County Health Department Public Information Officer, said the Health Department is able to offer this program to seniors through a grant from the Ocean County Office of Senior Services. She said, “There is so much information offered in this program. Simple things such as knowing that certain drugs, many that are commonly used, should not be taken with others, as there can be harmful reactions. In addition, is it always advisable to take a generic form of a drug if one is available? There is so much information discussed and reviewed in this program.
